Injected Motorsports & ICON Vehicle Dynamics – 2.5v IR Shock for 2011–2019 GM 2500/3500

Injected Motorsports has teamed up with ICON Vehicle Dynamics to develop the 2.5v Internal Reservoir (IR) Shock designed specifically for 2011–2019 GM 2500/3500 HD trucks equipped with 4–5” lift kits. Below, we’ll walk you through the key installation notes and critical measurements you'll need.

We even went the extra step to have the shock mounts designed to fit the BDS-style 4.5” lift kits, which feature different mounting configurations than standard kits.

Why ICON?

ICON Vehicle Dynamics is a leader in off-road suspension systems, known for delivering precision-engineered, high-performance components. The 2.5v IR shock is no exception—it’s tuned and built specifically for each application, delivering optimized length and damping performance.

Shock Features:

  • 2.5” Internal Reservoir Design

  • Application-specific damping and valving

  • Precision CNC-machined 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum components

  • 1026 DOM steel shock body for strength and durability

  • Premium 5WT shock oil for consistent damping across a wide temperature range

  • Fully rebuildable and 100% revalveable for future upgrades or service

***Stay tuned for the detailed installation guide and measurement reference to ensure a proper fit and performance setup on your lifted GM HD truck.

The 7/8” diameter induction hardened, chrome plated shock shaft provides a beefier rod to withstand on and off road conditions over its competition. Shocks are under 250 psi!

Tools Needed:

JACK , JACK STANDS

TORQUE WRENCH

9/16” SOCKET / WRENCH 3/4” SOCKET / WRENCH 13/16” SOCKET / WRENCH 7/8” SOCKET

WRENCH 19MM SOCKET / WRENCH 21MM SOCKET / WRENCH

We installed these front shocks on a 2017 GM Duramax 2500HD with a Cognito 4" lift. Truck is sitting close to 4.5" here in the pictures on the front. Below we show how to place the bushings and also how to install or less or extra travel.

How to install the hardware on shock (bar in middle shows where the truck frame bracket is)

Factory Mount Indention (Top side)

ICON Shock Mount Bracket (Hole in the middle needs to be closer to the outside)

ICON Mount installed (tighten the 2 bolts first before putting the shock in) **Torque to 110 ft-lbs

Placing the Icon shock into place after tightening the mounting bracket hardware (torque to 50 ft-lbs) DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN

**Torque to factory spec For Bottom Shock Mount Bolt

Depending on your vehicles ride height application its easier to place the shock rod through the top and place a nut on there to hold, then either raise or lower the control arm (lower) to slide the bottom bolt through.

If you need MORE travel and lift height is closer to 5" then place the mounting bracket on the bottom of the frame mount. Less travel or closer to 4" then place it on the top.

**The BDS Style changes the lower Mounts to an Eyelet style and the top is the same stem with the bar pin mount system. Links below for both styles!
